Description

A hybrid route combining the best of the previous Kongulai River and Savo Heights routes, with some new trails in between forming an enjoyable "Valleys & Views" walk.

Start at the Kongulai Pump Station and climb up the ridge behind the weir following a jungle trail to the Chaubina Sinkhole (which is a short 100 metre detour off the track).

The track down to the sinkhole does loop back onto the main track, but it is a bit overgrown, so follow your steps back to the main track, if unsure.

The track then continues up to Savo Heights, which is an open grassy ridge that offers spectacular views before descending back into the Kongulai valley for the first river crossing.

This is followed by an up and over another ridge to Wind Valley, where you walk upstream, following a semi dry creek bed up to Tasahe (flowing in the wet season).

You then descend back down to Kongulai River for a very pretty walk with six refreshing crossings of this beautiful, crystal-clear river before returning to the pump station.

It is a hilly, picturesque walk with a bit of everything!
