Description

The culmination of the Boston Walking City Trail, this is about as good as urban hiking gets! Picking up where you finished yesterday, follow the Charles River and then drop inland to Esplanade Park, Boston Public Garden and Boston Common.

The parks themselves are pleasantly green, but the high rises of Boston city centre loom in the distance and serve as a reminder that you're firmly in the big smoke now! Upon leaving the Common, pass briefly through Chinatown and the Leather District to reach Boston's famous Harborwalk.

Follow this north, passing everything from busy ferry terminals to parks and huge, urban plazas. All too soon the trail heads north, crosses the Charles River and leads up to the legendary Bunker Hill monument.

If the monument is open, climb its 294 steps and enjoy a wonderful panorama across the city you've just spent 4 days traversing!
