Description

Bergen Peak in Elk Meadow Park is a popular objective for hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers alike.

This small Front Range mountain top rises to an elevation of 9,708 feet above sea level, offering up beautiful views from its rocky summit.

The meadows in Elk Meadow Park are true to their name, providing some of the best chances of spotting elk in any Jefferson County Open Space. The route shown here is the out-and-back option that provides the quickest trip to the top of Bergen Peak.

But if you tack on 1 extra total mile, you can instead descend an entirely different trail—the Too Long Trail—for some variety on your hike. No matter which trail(s) you choose, the routes to the summit are rocky, steep, and filled with switchbacks.
