Description

The geology of this section of coast is spectacular.

The cliffs are made up of thin layers of sandstone alternating with mudstone. The Witches’ Cauldron (Pwll-y-Wrach), found at Ceibwr Bay, is a blow-hole caused by the collapse of a cave roof.

A narrow passage connects it to the sea.

The stream flowing down the nearby valley disappears underground and empties into the ‘cauldron’.
