Description

This moderate trail provides an excellent introduction to Kaua'i's diverse ecosystem, showcasing breathtaking views of the island's interior and distant mountain peaks.

Beginning at the trailhead located in Wailua, you are immediately enveloped by the sights and sounds of the tropical rainforest.

On the hike you can expect to see a diverse range of both trees and fauna, including the 'apapane and 'amakihi. As the trail ascends gently along the ridge, panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys begin to unfold, offering hikers sweeping views of the Wailua River Valley below and the majestic peaks of Mount Waialeale and Mount Wai'ale'ale in the distance.

There are multiple viewpoints en route, and some benches from which to enjoy them.

In addition to the peaks listed above, there are also exceptional vistas across the island's famous North Shore, and the Hanalei Valley. Combining views with wonderful flora and fauna, this is a great way to start your exploration of this famous island's wild interior.
