Fun and easy porphyry ridge

FATMAP difficulty grade

This route is ideal for those who want to start exploring ridges.

To get there, leave your car at the Frotten car park (for a fee) and take the path to the Sette Selle refuge.

There are two trail variations: the more direct one is to the left of the car park, looking upwards, and the longer, less steep one is to the right.

Once you reach the hut, head right along the path or directly towards the summit valley.

Depending on the snow conditions, you can start skiing from the car park and ascend the path to the right to the base of the ridge.

The path's condition will determine whether you can ski from the car park or not.

After reaching the path, follow the porphyry ridge.

Pass the normal on the left and aim for the fork.

Then, follow the ridge to the summit of Sasso Rotto.

The ridge is easy and well-marked, with some II° passages that are easily protected.

If you are doing this with snow, be cautious, especially in the upper part due to the presence of holes covered by windy snow.

Descend from the normal path along a steep gully that leads directly to the trail, which easily leads to the hut.

This ridge is recommended for those who want to become familiar with ridge progression in a moderately challenging and accessible environment. The Sette Selle refuge may also be open on weekends in winter.
