Description

Crossing the Conneticut/Massachusets border, this is a classic hike through the Breakneck Brook Wildlife Conservation Easement.

Most of the trail is in the forests, but the clearer parts of it provide some fabulous views across the surrounding hills. The trail begins by climbing up to and then following the famous Breakneck Ridge.

It winds through rolling terrain and passes some well known local landmarks en route, such as Breakneck Brook and Breakneck Pond.

The line shown here can be shortened easily enough but cutting out the northernmost section of the route and going over Cat Rocks to reach the northern end of Breakneck Pond. Once you're done with this trail, plenty of adventures await in the nearby Bigelow Hollow State Park and Nipmuch State Forest.
