Description

This an excellent, more difficult variation to the standard Glacier Mort tour.

It is rarely skied and as such, you should be able to find fresh tracks in here for several days after snowfall.

Follow the Glacier Mort tour until the bootpack on that route hits the west ridge of the Pointe Alphonse Favre, at which point this route is on your left.

Negotiating the narrow strips of snow through the rocks at the top of the line can be awkward, but if there's enough snow you should be able to sideslip.

If the snow coverage is poor, it might be easier to scramble down and then put skis on 5 metres into the line.

Either option deposits you on a 40 degree snow slope, which feels like it is hanging above the valley below.

Ski this and then, when it drops away steeply, traverse skier's left into the wider and less steep lower section of the line.

Rip down this and join the Crochues Bérard ski tour, or the Brêche de Bérard, and continue down to Le Buet.
