Description

Grand Targhee Resort was one of the first to allow fat biking on the groomed Nordic trails, and has become one of the premier fat biking destinations.

Of course, Grand Targhee Resort is known as a downhill skiing destination, but tossing in a fat bike ride is a great addition to any winter vacation.

Grand Targhee's Nordic Trail system is the perfect place to give fat biking a try; the impeccably-groomed trails are wide and the climbing is minimal.

With 15 kilometers of groomed goodness and fat bike rentals on site, it is super easy to head straight from the coffee shop to pedaling on snow. The Nordic Trails provide absolutely stunning scenery while riding, making the effort expended quickly forgotten.

The design and layout of the Nordic Trails make any ride fun, with swooping curves and exhilarating downhills.

With numerous loops available, you can make your ride as long or short as desired. Adhering to a few rules of etiquette goes a long way to keeping cross country skiers happy to meet cyclists out on the trail.

1) Always ride to the left of the classic tracks.

2) Yield to skiers.

3) Only ride after the snow has set up.

If you're creating ruts, it is too soft.

4) Ride on 3.7” or wider tires with low pressure.

5) Rick’s Basin and Quakie loops should be ridden counterclockwise, which is the best direction for hills.

6) No dogs on the groomed trails. Trail passes are mandatory, but the price is well-worth the consistently groomed trail system right at Grand Targhee Resort.

Already long known for its fantastic downhill and nordic skiing, fat biking is now a part of Grand Targhee's reputation.
