A combination of the Tignes Resort and the heart of the national park. The contrast is amazing but telling of the history of the Vanoise.

Description

This easy loop route around the Pointe du Chardonnet is easily-accessed from the Tignes resort.

This route takes place over two different faces of the mountain—one which is natural, and the other which is equipped with amenities.

The landscape is a bit spoiled by the lifts on the resort side, but the national park side is very wild. From the wooden terrace of the Maison de Tignes (tourist information office), follow the building to the right to the trail that starts to the right of the Palafour ski lift.

During the climb from Tignes, enjoy discovering the valley of Peisey-Nancroix from the Col du Palet.

After gaining some height away from the Tignes resort, the landscape becomes quite rugged, but with a well-defined and signed route, and the prominent crag of Pointe du Chardonnet comes into view.

The route at this point is one of the most beautiful in the Vanoise massif, walking through large areas of magnificent alpine pastures surrounded by spectacular peaks and the Grande Motte glacier. This route crosses the Vanoise National Park's protected area.
