The Schneeberg ski tour is well known to most hikers, as the Schneeberg offers ascents and descents to suit every taste.
Besides Breiter Ries, Wurzengraben and Schneegraben, the Hoyosgraben is one of the most rewarding downhill runs: the lower part is close to the pistes, further up you follow the road that leads past the Almgatterl, but most of the time not alone.
Before this one climbs then over the clearing forest on to the plateau of the Schneeberg.
The advantage of the ascent through the Hoyosgraben is that you can descend over it again at any time if the summit is in clouds or the wind is too strong.
The descent is usually quite possible, as the ditch is soon blown in by snowfall.
Once you reach the bottom of the road again, follow it back to the Edelweisshütte hut.
A short skinning is recommended for the counter ascent.
The descent over the piste does not have to be explained further. Ski touring equipment and especially windproof clothing, as the summit is quite exposed to the wind.
