Description

Just a few miles from the centre of London, there lies an icon: Hampstead Heath.

It's a slice of true countryside within the city itself.

The Heath is not only rich in flora and fauna, but provides inner-city dwellers with an outlet to enjoy nature and extensive opportunities for sport and recreation. The parkrun course has to be one of the most iconic, along with the park itself.

The terrain is predominantly tree-lined tarmac with beautiful sections through ancient woodland trails and along a chain of ponds that lead up to London’s famous Parliament Hill, overlooking the city.

The bathing ponds and the swimming pool in the park provide ideal places to cool off after a sharp 5km effort.

There’s also an athletics track and a superb network of alternative trails to enjoy. The course begins at Lime Avenue.

Get there for a Saturday social with other parkrunners for a 9am start and grab a post-run coffee at Euphorium Bakery on the corner of South End Road and East Heath Road.
