Description

It's perfectly possible to ski for years at Kühtai without even realising that this amazing line is right under your nose! The entrance is (when you know where to look) easy to find but this is the only route through some cliffs and it's not obvious at all that it exists until you investigate the cliff top. Ride the Hohe Mut Bahn chairlift and then ski north-west from the top of the lift and proceed straight into the top of this line.

The line is surrounded by cliffs so approach the entrance with caution and minimal speed because catching an edge en route to ski this could be disastrous. Having located the entrance summon up the courage to squeeze through the initial (narrow) few metres and then enjoy the ride down the couloir itself.

The line is quite narrow but never too steep and it banks out nicely to help you execute your turns.

Once out of the couloir the fun is not done because the exit slope is a fabulous tree covered run.

Let the handbrake off and rip some big, carving turns through the trees down to a cross country ski track.

Turn right on this and follow it to where it bends right and goes uphill.

Follow it up (either by skating or taking your skis off and walking) and continue along it to the main road, which takes about 10 minutes to reach from where you initially hit the track.

Walk back along the road to the foot of the Hohe Mut Bahn lift and go for another lap!
