Description

This medium-length loop through the northern reaches of Collserola begins conveniently right on the edge of Barcelona.

The route climbs up over the mountain range, drops deep into the forest on the far side, and then loops back up and over the mountain to return to Barcelona. The run begins on the dry, south-facing slopes of Collserola.

While the vegetation here is relatively open and sparse, after you cross over to the north-facing slopes, the vegetation is dense, and the woods feel deep and dark.

Here, you'll wind your way beneath a dark forest canopy along ancient singletrack trails that connect old villages and historic sites. Whether this loop is a challenge or a bite-sized snack depends entirely on the runner.

It traverses a combination of dirt roads and rocky, rough singletrack, but the length isn’t exorbitant, and the elevation gain isn’t massive.

But with two full crossings of the mountain range, don’t expect this run to be an easy walk in the park! Sources: https://medium.com/great-runs/great-runs-in-barcelona-f7422932e703 https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/986995693/
