Description

Maras Salt Pools offer great Instagram Pic opportunities with thousands of salt pools perched along a mountain side. Ride along the salt pools on a steep and technical single track trail towards the Urubamba river.

This terrain is at times clay, at times rocky with a few technical bits that involve small drops and rocky stretches.

Advanced riders will be fine, but intermediate ones may consider walking along two or three particularly gnarly turns. Once in the valley cross the Urubamba river using the suspension bridge that leads to Media Luna.

Head north on a dirt road along the river and once you hit Yanahuara continue along the railway track. Cross the river once again and onto a dirt road towards Pachar.

Here you can either make a pit-stop at Cervecería del Valle, or continue along the Qhapaq Ñan (Authentic Inca trail) until you reach the Inca suspension bridge at the entrance to Ollantaytambo. Ride onto the dirt road next to the river towards the train station and take a small path immediately after the train station.

This path is about a kilometer long and will take you straight to the fortress. Look us up on www.lasqolqas.com
