Description

The trail leads from Niederalpl over several alpine pastures to Herrenboden, one of the most famous pilgrimage bases on the border between the Mürzer Oberland Nature Park and the Mariazeller Land.

Wonderful close-up views of the north side of the Veitsch and beautiful, snow-covered alpine meadows make the tour a special experience. A real backpack pack makes a lot of things easier: pack heavy things first.

The drinking bottle (ideal: 1 litre or more, in winter thermos flask) should always be within easy reach.

All things that are often needed such as sunglasses, camera, mobile phone or hiking map belong on top, emergency equipment including blister plasters belongs in every backpack and an outfit according to the "onion system" is always recommended! Never forget your rain cover, hood and gloves on alpine tours! In winter on ski tours and snowshoe hikes, appropriate safety equipment (avalanche transceiver, avalanche shovel and probe) is mandatory! Always call up the avalanche situation report before the tour (www.lawine-steiermark.at).Avalanche beacons, avalanche shovels and probes can be borrowed from the nature park office for a small fee.
