A rather unknown tour in the westernmost corner of the Rax with a very steep summit slope. But there is a wonderful deep view into the Altenbergertal.

Description

The tour takes you to terrain of the Gamseck walls that is less suitable for snowshoeing.

However, the summit of the Hohe Gupf offers an opportunity to experience the impressive winterly rocky landscape up close and intensively. A real backpack pack makes a lot of things easier: pack heavy things first.

The drinking bottle (ideal: 1 litre or more, in winter thermos flask) should always be within easy reach.

All things that are often needed such as sunglasses, camera, mobile phone or hiking map belong on top, emergency equipment including blister plasters belongs in every backpack and an outfit according to the "onion system" is always recommended! Never forget your rain cover, hood and gloves on alpine tours! In winter on ski tours and snowshoe hikes, appropriate safety equipment (avalanche transceiver, avalanche shovel and probe) is mandatory! Always call up the avalanche situation report before the tour (www.lawine-steiermark.at).Avalanche beacons, avalanche shovels and probes can be borrowed from the nature park office for a small fee.
