Description

The Raxalpenhof in Prein is the ideal starting point for snowshoe hikes.

Not only the location is ideal for hiking on the Rax or the Kreuzberg, in winter you also have the possibility to rent snowshoe equipment in the wellness seminar hotel Raxalpenhof.

The snowshoe hike to Breitenstein first leads uphill through the Hollensteingraben.

At the Thalhof the big ascent is done and we walk along the crest of the Luckerten Wand.

Here you can enjoy beautiful views at over 1000 metres above sea level.

Ober Orthof is then steadily downhill to Breitenstein, where you can admire the impressive buildings and viaducts of the Semmeringbahn, and after the tour you can fortify yourself at the Blunzenwirt.

The Semmeringbahn takes you from here to the Semmering or via Payerbach back to Prein. Snowshoes, rucksack with rucksack, light, mobile phone, lighter, map material, winter-suitable hiking boots, a cable tie or a piece of wire for a temporary repair is often sufficient for small breakdowns in the equipment.
