Description

With the ski bus or the private vehicle, one gets to the starting point at the Hotel Wetterhorn above Grindelwald.

From there the snowshoe trail follows the first few 100 metres up the pass road.

In the first hairpin bend you climb straight through the forest and snow-covered pastures up to the Briggbach.

Before crossing the stream, the easy (blue) trail branches off to the left and leads via the Weidli area back down to the starting point.

The slightly more demanding (red) trail continues after the Briggbach into the Ischboden area and up to the highest point in the Underen Loichbiel.

The descent over thick snow-covered pastures is then pure snowshoe fun.

Via Schürli and Weidli alpine huts you return to the Hotel Wetterhorn.

Shown below, the elevation profile to the medium-weight Wetterhorn Trail (red). We recommend the following equipment: sturdy and waterproof mountain boots, light to medium backpack, protection against cold, sun protection, hiking poles, pocket pharmacy, snacks, tea in thermos flask, mobile phone.
