Description

This snowshoe hike leads from Payerbach as a circular path over the Kreuzberg and back to the starting point.

Through the Payerbachgraben it goes up to the Stoierhöhe and to the Kaiserbühel, past a chapel.

The intermediate destination on the round is the Speckbacherhütte, where you can not only eat and drink, but also plan an overnight stay for a longer stay (Thursday rest day).

Soon you will reach the summit of the Kreuzberg at 1084 metres above sea level.

From the back of the Kreuzberg you can enjoy breathtaking views towards Semmering and Sonnwendstein.

On the way back you can explore part of the railway hiking trail and make a detour to the historic nostalgia post office in Küb before returning to Payerbach, where numerous excursion possibilities and culinary destinations as well as high-quality overnight accommodation await all those who want to stay longer in the Viennese Alps. Snowshoes, rucksack with rations, winter-suitable hiking boots, light, mobile phone, lighter, mapsFor small breakdowns in equipment, a cable tie or a piece of wire is often enough for a makeshift repair.

It is recommended that you always carry basic avalanche equipment in the mountains.
