Description

This short snowshoeing route is easily accessible from the trailhead at the base of Snodgrass Road, making for a perfect lunchtime or after work snowshoe. Begin by snowshoeing straight up the heavily-used Snodgrass Road.

While portions of the climb can be steep at times, the frequent traffic helps keep the road well-packed.

As you climb, keep an eye out for the blue signs pointing to Teddy’s Trail to the right.

Teddy’s is a short but sweet groomed loop that you may just have to snowshoe a few times! The first section, if traveling clockwise, is a true gem—snowshoeing through a leafless aspen grove is a surreal experience! As you leave the aspens, a short descent drops you into an open meadow.

Savor the views of the Gothic Valley and Mount Crested Butte as you loop back around, finishing the loop with a stiff climb. If you haven’t had enough yet, you can opt to snowshoe the loop again before heading down Snodgrass Road.

Alternatively, if you’d like some more elevation gain in your day, continue heading up Snodgrass Road as far as you’d like, then turn around and retrace your tracks to your car.
