Description

Whiting Ranch, technically called "Limestone Canyon and Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park,” is one of the most popular trail systems in Orange County.

This "massive open space area [is] seamlessly integrated with an interconnected trail system,” [according to Singletracks.com](https://www.singletracks.com/mtb-trails/mtb-in-socal-the-luge-whiting-ranch-and-mountain-lions/).

“Not only does the network of gated fire roads and singletrack span both parks, but it also connects to greenways and other trails that branch out into the surrounding communities, allowing many local riders to access these challenging hills from the convenience of their own homes,” the author continues. While the loop mapped here is one of the most logical loop options in the area, this expansive open space is home to a large collection of trails providing ride combinations of various lengths and technical difficulties.

This loop climbs the Borrego Canyon Trail and Mustard Road to gain the top of the ridge.

Then, it’s time to descend! The descent mapped here follows the Cactus Hill Trail to the Sleepy Hollow Trail, Sage Scrub Trail, Serrano Cow Trail, and the Live Oak Trail.

All of the trails in this loop are rated either beginner or intermediate.

While you can expect some rough rocks in places, overall, the trail is smooth, swoopy, and flowy—guaranteed to put a smile on your face! Looking to extend your ride?
