Description

This is a relatively flat 18km loop encircling the historic island of Lovö, Ekerö.

Enjoy a run through the thriving nature reserve that sits next to Lake Mälaren, the third-largest freshwater lake in Sweden.

The trail dates back to 1974, and although it's popular with hikers and mountain bikers, it's also perfect for trail runners too.

The route switches it up between singletrack, dirt roads, and scrambling rocky root patches.

The trail takes you through charming agricultural landscapes, into oak and pine forests, and along the waterfront.

The cherry on top of this track is that it starts and ends at the magnificent Drottningholm Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the home of the Swedish royal family.

If you want to take short breaks along the way, be sure to stop at the many information signs describing the rich history of the area.
