Description

The length and variety of this tour is such that it "should" be a ski tour - the fact that you can ski it without a single second of going uphill feels like cheating! The lift network in the Dolomites is fabulous though, and it enables you to ski routes like this with zero effort.

Which is nice! Start by riding the gondola up to Sass Pordoi and skiing north-east to the col that marks the point at which this route splits from the other tours in the area.

Ski down the fabulous gully that lies immediately north-northeast of the col.

The gully is pure fun, and features no nasty surprises, just brilliant terrain and (usually) excellent snow too.

The gully widens out into a spectacular valley, and this can be skied just about anywhere.

Follow it as it swings around gradually to the left.

As it begins to steepen and trees begin appearing, push out skier's left to a gully which is reminiscent of the initial gully at the very start of the route.

Ski down this to nicely spaced trees below.

Blast through these drifting left all the way to reach a road.

Cross this and continue skiing down to the Pain Frataces - Gherdecia gondola.

Take this up and ride it to get back into the Super Ski Dolomiti lift network. There are many routes to be skied from the top of Sass Pordoi so consider taking another ride up and doing the Val Mezdi or the Val Scura lines.
