Description

Before the Grands Montets cable car was destroyed by fire, this was an easy and easily accessible route but now involves a long, tough climb to access it.

The obvious advantage of this is that the route is now an awful lot quieter than it used to be! Start from the foot of the Grands Montets cable car and ride/push up the gruelling ascent to the Lognan lift station.

This is the building that was destroyed by fire so there is likely to be construction work of some sort going on as you pass by.

Continue climbing until you are overlooking the Lavancher bowl (which is very popular amongst skiers in winter) and then descend into the bowl itself.

The track at this point becomes less of a jeep track and more of a mountain bike trail as it descends to the bottom of the Retour Pendant chairlift.

From here the track becomes much more significant again and leads round through the forest back to Lognan.

Ride back down to Argentière, getting off and walking whenever the track gets too steep!
