The Negev Highland Trail runs from north to south through the centre of the Negev Desert in southern Israel.
On continuously marked paths you'll hike through barren rocky landscapes and enjoy wonderful views down into wide valleys.
But the Negev offers much more: canyons, through which raging rivers flow after rainfalls, gentle oases, and the mighty Ramon crater. The route follows ancient paths through the desert, which were already used in ancient times by spice traders and caravans.
They'll take you to many historic sites along the Negev Highland Trail - such as the ruins of the ancient trading town of Avdat, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You can spend the night in small Bedouin villages, where you can get to know the proverbial hospitality and traditional Bedouin lifestyle.
The famous Kibbutz Sde Boker, where Ben Gurion owned a house, and the modern desert town of Mitzpe Ramon are also worth a visit. *More information about travelling to the Negev can be found here ( https://new.goisrael.com/de/node/2936 ).*
