Description

The SalzAlpenTour "Ramsauer Schattseitweg" starts at the Gasthof Oberwirt, right next to the Ramsauer church.

To the left of the Ramsauer Ache we walk west and after a few minutes we reach the so-called "glacier springs".

The springs fed by meltwater from the Blaueis glacier at Hochkalter emerge at this point, i.e.

only 1500 metres below the glacier.

They are the sources of the northernmost glacier in the Alps and can sometimes carry up to 1000 litres of water per second.

The next highlight on this salt alpine tour are the wild waters of the Marxenklamm gorge in the Marxen district of the same name, where the Ramsauer Ache has cut its way particularly deep into the underground.

In the magic forest, the following part of the tour, an interesting nature trail has been laid out, which encourages us to think along at various stations and leads us over bridges and footbridges to the shore of the Hintersee.

We circle the picturesque Hintersee and then hike along the actual Schattseitweg along the flanks of the Hochkalter to the Wimbach.

At the point where the Wimbach flows into the Ramsauer Ache, we turn left and follow the course of the Ramsauer Ache back to our starting point. equipment
