Description
*Reichenau an der Rax has a lot to offer.
In addition to cultural highlights such as the Festspielhaus, Wartholz Castle, Reichenau Castle* and the *Kurpark*, the town is also a starting point for numerous hikes to the surrounding mountains.
Around Reichenau lie Kreuzberg, Rax and Gahns, a foothill of the Schneeberg.
If you want to get from Reichenau to the Schneeberg, you should choose this wonderful mountain hiking trail, which leads via *Thalhof*, through forests and the romantic *Eng*, past the remains of the old wooden giants, up through the *Promischkagraben*.
From here it is only a few metres to the *Naturfreundehütte Knofeleben*, which was awarded the Austrian hiking quality seal in 2014.
And rightly so! In addition to *modern architecture*, the former Friedrich-Haller-Haus also has some *culinary delicacies* to offer.
The Naturfreundehaus is also a stage destination on the Vienna Alpine Arc.
From here you can hike on the stage towards Schneeberg ( http://regio.outdooractive.com/oar-wiener-alpen/de/tour/wandertouren/unterwegs-am-wiener-alpenbogen-abschnitt-knofeleben-edelweisshuette/7377022/ ) over the Krumbachsattel, where you enjoy a breathtaking view, to the Edelweisshütte.
In the other direction, the stage at the Vienna Alpine Arc ( http://regio.outdooractive.com/oar-wiener-alpen/de/tour/wandertouren/unterwegs-am-wiener-alpenbogen-abschnitt-reichenau-payerbach-knofeleben/7376984/ ) leads to Kaiserbrunn in the Höllental and back to Reichenau, via a challenging route. equipment Always take suitable *maps* with you.
Put on sturdy *shoes* adapted to the tour, take sun and rain protection, water and a snack.
Take your *mobile phone* with you and save the emergency number of the mountain rescue: 140
