Description

High up it goes on the Rax! The *Ottohaus*, situated at an altitude of *1644 metres*, has been on the Raxalpe since 1893 and has attracted numerous hikers ever since.

Sigmund Freud visited and spent the night in the rustic Ottohaus.

In less than 3 hours you can walk from Knappenberg (768m) to the mountain hut.

If you like, you can get something to eat at the *Knappenhof* before the tour.

The route lies directly on the path along the Vienna Alpine Arc ( http://regio.outdooractive.com/oar-wiener-alpen/de/tour/wandertouren/unterwegs-am-wiener-alpenbogen-abschnitt-habsburghaus-reichenau-payerbach/7376965/ ).

Thus, one can also start from Payerbach or Reichenau and follow the blue signs of the Viennese Alpine arc, thus one gets to the Knappenhof on this route.

A start from Edlach an der Rax is also possible with this route, which is well suited if you arrive in public.

The Ottohaus is part of the "Hüttenhüpfen" hike on the Rax, so you can reach the Ottohaus in a short time from the *Raxalpen Berggasthof* which is located directly at the mountain station of the *Raxseilbahn*. No matter which way you choose, the Ottohaus invites you to linger.

Whether for a *night*, a *rest* with a view of the 4000 square metre large *Alpengarten Rax* with 200 typical plant species of the Rax and Schneeberg area or for refreshment, for example through the legendary woodcutter's roast - there is no way around the Ottohaus. equipment Always take suitable *maps* with you.

Put on sturdy *shoes* adapted to the tour, take sun and rain protection, water and a snack.

Take your *mobile phone* with you and save the emergency number of the mountain rescue: 140
