Description

During the summer months, the "Formarinsee" hiking bus from Lech takes you as far as the Alpe Formarin bus stop.

From Alpe Formarin, the route follows the signposts towards Steinernes Meer in a south-easterly direction.

On Steinernes Meer, a craggy karst plateau, you can discover 200-million-years-old evidence of the maritime past of the Alps: fossilised corals, shells, ammonites - you name it.

Below the formal peak, the trails heads westwards to Freiburgerhütte where hearty refreshments await.

From Freiburgerhütte, the tour takes you around Lake Formarin on a gravel road and then back to the start at the Alpe Formarin bus stop. equipment Sturdy boots, warm clothes, rain and sun protection, hiking poles recommended.
