Description
We start our hiking trip with a train ride to the Oberalp Pass.
At the *Lighthouse* the path leads us first along the pass road slightly downhill.
After about 600 meters we cross the road, after which the road widens.
We are now on the former railway line of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn, which used to drive openly around the flank of Piz Calmot.
Today, however, the train disappears mostly in a tunnel, a little later in a half-open gallery.
If there's a sudden buzzing and rumbling: don't be scared! There's a train en route. Half way we reach a *picnic area* on the right side with a view into the valley, where the train leaves the tunnel we cross a viaduct over a rushing mountain stream.
We zigzag along a meadow path until just before Tschamut.
As soon as we meet asphalt, it goes left up to the train station. If it doesn't fit with the departure time of the train, we walk all the way down to the village and bridge the time with a coffee in *Anita`s Rheingärtli*.
We allow 15 minutes for the ascent to the train stop. equipment
