Description

The Semmering railway built by Carl von Ghega was a milestone in railway history and brought international fame to the once insignificant Semmering.

The economic importance of the railway has been lost, but due to the varied landscape, the magnificent villas and the viaducts and tunnels, the cultural importance is greater than ever.

The Semmeringbahn was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998.

Especially impressive is the view from the Doppelreiterwarte, which offers the viewer a view over the idyllic landscape of Semmering.

Along the path, which partly leads along the railway hiking trail, you come to the legendary 20 Schilling view, the view of the Kalte Rinne.

The viewpoint on the rocky Luckerten Wall functions as an absolute insider tip. equipment Always take suitable maps with you.

Put on sturdy shoes adapted to the tour, take sun and rain protection, water and a snack.
