Description

While Whistler abounds with stunning rock slab mountain biking, Green Monster is arguably one of the longest, burliest, and best rock slab rides in the region! [According to Peak Leaders](https://www.pinkbike.com/news/top-5-whistler-trail-rides-2014.html), most "of the trail is made up of steep rock slabs, usually into steeper loam section[s] after!" Green Monster receives a double black diamond rating by local mountain bikers, which should warn you of the severity of this ride. The descent starts off with chunky Whistler rock gardens funneling into fast, steep singletrack along a forested ridge.

After blasting through tons of chunder and up and down a few short, steep climbs, you'll hit a few drop opportunities with optional ride-arounds.

After the drops, the slabs begin to appear, starting off small and slowly increasing in size. Eventually, you'll reach the eponymous Green Monster slab.

The Green Monster slab "is interesting because it's perfectly flat," says BCpov.

The super-flat slab allows riders to rail down it at high speeds with nary a tap of the brakes. After passing the Green Monster slabs, even longer, more technical slabs appear, with more significant exposure and challenging ripples in the rocks.

This trail isn't over until its over, and the chunder, gnar, and rock rolls keep on coming all the way down the mountain! Sources: [BCpov](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HkS5Kws2FE) [Pinkbike.com](https://www.pinkbike.com/news/top-5-whistler-trail-rides-2014.html)
