In one day through three seasons: Winter, spring, midsummer! You will only experience this when you hike through the Fellital in Uri, one of the oldest federal hunting areas in Switzerland. The side valley of the Urner Reuss valley goes up into the high Alps over the Oberalp pass. Particularly worth seeing is the very special Swiss stone pine forest at Fellihorm or Taghorn. It's interspersed with rowanberries. In autumn, the largest Swiss stone pine forest on the north side of the Alps offers a great spectacle. Many of the man-high pines are already several hundred years old here. It's hard for them to survive in the battle zone.

Description

We start on the Oberalp Pass.

It can still be cold here in the morning.

The ascent into the Fellilücke takes about one hour and 15 minutes.

Here we meet old snow fields far into the summer.

Even fresh snow should not surprise us.

On the Fellilücke we have a short view back to the Oberalp Pass and enjoy the view far into the Mittelland, if the weather permits. Afterwards we immediately start the descent through the Fellital.

On the first plateau Murmetsbüel the morning sun slowly comes.

It warms us.

Now we can also take the first break for food.

Here it is barren and quiet and we enjoy the tranquility away from any civilization. After we have overcome a height step, we are already again in the middle of the alpine region.

Only for a short time the alpine dairymen come up here with their animals.

But slowly it is spring, the colours of the meadows change to a rich green.

The landscape becomes more charming and inviting. Especially interesting is the battle zone of the forest.

Trees fight for their survival.

On the Taghorn, these are mainly Swiss stone pines, whose gnarled shapes tell stories of long winters, rockfalls and avalanches. In the middle of the forest we reach the Treschhütte.

It's worth stopping.

From here you can still make some excursions, discover a lot of interesting things. Through a typical water-rich mountain forest we reach the first agriculturally used mountains: the Upper Felliberg and the Lower Felliberg.

Last but not least we cross the dark Wassnerwald, where robbers and bandits lurked at times of the packers to rob the travellers. At the main road we come to the bus stop.

Buses stop here regularly to take us to Göschenen or to Altdorf and Flüelen. equipment Very good shoes, daypack, binoculars, sun protection and rain protection.

Warm clothes, if possible: Windstopper.
