Description

This path leads us through the Salzach valley at the southern edge of the valley floor.

Beautiful hike through meadows and forests along some rivers.

Wonderful views of the National Park valleys between Mühlbach and Krimml make this tour an experience! The hike starts in Mühlbach at the railway station.

Here you cross the Salzach bridge and walk west.

The first part you walk along the Salzach until you reach Wenns on the left side of the Fit - nature trail.

Follow this road to Wenns, where you cross the village.

The continuation leads directly to a refreshing Kneipp facility.

Then walk along the edge of the forest to the Steinach district and on to Hotel Grundlhof.

Shortly afterwards a bridge leads over the Habach and then a beautiful hiking trail leads through the forest to Neukirchen.

On the southern bank of the Salzach you continue hiking to the Gasthof Schütthof.

At the entrance to the Untersulzbach valley you can visit the impressive Untersulzbach waterfall.

A dirt road then leads towards Gasthof Siggen.

Now one crosses the Obersulzbach over a bridge.

A short ascent to the Gasthof Friedburg follows.

Immediately afterwards the path leads down again to the Salzach.

This leads to the village of Wald.

Now follow the Salzach river upstream, past the Krimml railway station and continue along the Achenwaldweg until you finally reach the world-famous Krimml Waterfalls - a very impressive natural spectacle! There are many cosy places to stop from the route.

Of course, you can also hike individual sections of the valley path or make different stages from the respective villages.
