Description

From the centre of the village you first walk eastwards under the railway line and past the sports field to the Steinberg.

A good 300 metres after the road turns south, turn left onto a dirt road that climbs briefly into the woods.

After a few metres of ascent, turn right again and walk more or less level along the slope over pastures.

Soon one crosses a forest road above Mayrhofen and follows the hiking trail, which leads into the forest shortly under the power line.

The path now winds its way up to the Mitterberg, with a beautiful view and mostly a slight ascent along the slope.

Now you have the possibility to descend directly to Thumersbach or to climb up to the mountain inn MItterberg (about 40 minutes from the junction) and have a snack on the beautiful view terrace.

From Thumersbach the route briefly follows the lake and along the foot of the slope via meadows back to Mayrhofen and Maishofen. equipment *Hiking equipment:* sturdy shoes, fleece jacket or sweater, rain protection, sunglasses, sun cream, sun protection for the head, bandages (plaster), hiking map, mobile phone, sufficient liquid, hiking poles.
