Description

A long narrow chute that opens into a wide bowl, Summit Chute is the larger of the two chutes that start at the summit of the Throne.

Watch out for a cornice that builds at the top.

This deep chute fills nicely with snow, making it prone to avalanches.

In 2014 the ski patrol set off an avalanche with a 10-foot crown-wall that extended from Summit Chute back to OO Right that destroyed the Chair 6.

Later in the season this chute widens and becomes easier.

Access Summit Chute by hiking the Throne.

Watch out for a traverse track below the chute as it opens into the wider bowl.
