The trail begins towards the back of the village of Wildi and leads up over Bärenfalle to Melchboden.

Here, there is a small pond with a bridge, a play area, and barbecue areas set in a pretty glade in the middle of the larch forest. Bärenfalle and Melchboden are also connected by the Fairytale Trail, which tells the story of Pia in the kingdom of the dwarves, as well as several local legends. From Melchboden, the path continues in a wide zigzag through the Schafwald forest until it emerges from the trees and ends at the Hannig mountain station.
