Description

D Chute is a rocky outcropping with several narrow couloirs and rock droppings to choose from.

This way down requires advanced “big mountain” and jumping skills.

If you are unsure if you have those skills, take the open bowls down.

This is a brief but exhilarating ride down! To hike to Alphabet Chutes from South Headwall takes another 10-20 minutes depending on snow conditions and how far you want to traverse over.

Snow conditions at the top of the Cirque can be windblown and crusty, with creamier snow below in the trees.

This area is not open very often, but your best bet is February.
