Description

Jeff’s Chute is a short, double-black, wicked-steep couloir accessed off of the right side of Derailer that runs into the huge meadow of Runaway (a steep bump run).

These four chutes are accessible only through a controlled gate near the top of Derailer on the right, and are some of the steepest terrain in Winter Park Resort.

Jeff’s Chute does not require any hiking to access it.

It is not open that often unless it’s a good year for snow.

It gets tracked out pretty soon when it’s open, so if you’re up to this level of gnar-gnar, get there early on a big pow day.

Jeff’s Chute is named after Jeff Ruhle, a ski instructor who died just above it.
