Description

From the Gerasdorf train station, the route goes into the small town center, which is just outside the Vienna city limit.

Here you’ll find an assortment of accommodations, shops, and restaurants at which to stop if you wish.

After a short stroll on town streets and then among farm fields, you’ll reach the Gerasdorfer bathing pond–a perfect retreat on a hot day, and great for families.

Beyond there, the route traces the Marchfeld Canal on a dirt road, with crops on one side. Soon you’ll re-enter the bounds of the city in Floridsdorf, with more opportunities to stop for a snack, and come to Brünner Strasse, where Stage 21 ends and 22 begins.

On this stage you’ll ascend the gentle slope of Bisamberg, which is flanked by vast vineyards and crowned by a copse of forest.

You’ll gaze over rows of grapes at the skyline of Vienna, way across the Danube.

The stage ends on the other side of this low hill, at a cluster of cozy _heurige_ (wine taverns) with homestyle comforts and delicious local specialties.
