I steep scramble from the lake to the Koruna Peaks via the Islet tarn. One of the few ways from the lake to the ridge itself, rewarding with views to the sea and over the whole lake.

Description
Initial ascent is steep but mostly open ground with the rocky crests easily passed as there had been a recent fire. Once above 650m, the going is more variable with open easy walking, mixed with difficult scrub penetrations. Don't fall off the ridges as the scrub is worse.
From the lake there is a foot pad through the worst of the scrub to a point that you can scramble up to the ridge and then onto the peaks.
Difficulty
Difficult
Hiking trails where obstacles such as rocks or roots are prevalent. Some obstacles can require care to step over or around. At times, the trail can be worn and eroded. The grade of the trail is generally quite steep, and can often lead to strenuous hiking.
