Weg zur Adamekhütte Map

The Adamekhütte, named after a deserving Alpine Club official, stands at one of the most beautiful places in the Dachstein Mountains: just behind it, the Great Gosau Glacier stretches out its tongue, framed by the Hohe Kreuz, the Niederen and the Hohe Dachstein, the Mitterspitz and the Schneebergwand, a porch of the mighty Torstein. In 1879, its predecessor was built, the coarse rock hut further down and now in ruins. In 1905 the present Schutzhaus was opened, which has been considered one of the most modern huts in Austria since its general renovation. From Gasthof Gosausee at Vorderen Gosausee it is best to walk right over the dam wall, left to Seeklausalm and to the rear part of the lake. Further into the valley to the Niedere Holzmeisteralm and to the Gosaulacke, which is only periodically filled. Below the Launigg waterfall, the forest path climbs to Luegbichl. Through a forest ditch to the Hinteres Gosausee. When the path divides at its southern shore, turn right on trail no. 614 towards Adamekhütte up to the Niederen Bärenstaffel. Next to a ditch to a steep step, which the path overcomes in many serpentines. Past the ruins of the Grobgesteinhütte and over a mountain pine slope you reach the Hohe Riedel, where the path divides: We go straight on through the karst area towards the Schreiberwand and in turns up to the Adamekhütte. Rest stops:Holzmeisteralm (Hintere Gosauseealm), Adamekhütte.
