Lower Myra Falls Map

Lower Myra Falls is a stunning series of cascades located on the southern end of Buttle Lake. It's a long, remote drive down tight, twisting roads to reach Lower Myra Falls, but the reward is well worth the effort!

Description

The hike to the falls follows a steep but well-maintained path along a reinforced gravel surface. From the parking lot, you'll drop steeply down to the lower viewpoint, and at this terminus, you'll be able to walk out on the rock and enjoy the thunder of the water as it crashes down the rock slabs.

The falls consist of several different drops and cascades, and from the lower viewpoint, you can walk around on the rock and appreciate the many different angles of this incredible natural feature! However, the rock is slippery when wet, and walking around on this natural surface can be dangerous. Exercise caution if you choose to explore here.

After soaking in the scenery at the lower viewpoint, you can choose to take a more natural trail to an upper viewpoint that overlooks an upper section of Lower Myra Falls. Note that this is not Upper Myra Falls—Upper Myra Falls is a longer, more difficult hike located nearby. Instead, you're viewing yet another portion of the stunning Lower Myra Falls from this vantage point.

Once done at the upper overlook, you can traverse back out to the main trail and then finish the climb back to your car.

Lower Myra Falls is a true gem and is one of the most scenic spots in all of Strathcona Provincial Park!
