The Rabbit Hole -> Wonderland Trail Map

The Wonderland Trails just outside of Quesnel is a purpose-built mountain bike trail network that will surprise many riders with the rigorously high quality of the singletrack. Built by mountain bikers, for mountain bikers, you can find a bit of everything in this trail system: machine-built flow trails; steep, rocky test pieces; massive wooden features; jumps; drops; and even some great beginner trails.

Description

This dense trail system features lap-style rides, with one main climbing trail—What the Huck—providing access to a myriad of downhill options. A great option for warming up on the sharp, rocky chutes on this small mountainside is the Rabbit Hole trail.

Rabbit Hole begins a short way down the beginning Wonderland and then reconnects with Wonderland about halfway down the mountain. At the midway point on the mountain (the end of Rabbit Hole), you can either continue down the Wonderland Trail as this route suggest, or you can pick up What the Huck and pedal back up to the top for another lap.

Rabbit Hole itself is steep, rocky, and fairly challenging. Advanced-level riders—especially those with British Columbia chops—will feel right at home tearing into the tech on Rabbit Hole. However, compared to many of the trails in the Sea to Sky corridor, Rabbit Hole is quite rocky. The rocks never end—you just switch from loose sliding scree to big embedded rocks, to rocky chutes down razor points. The rocks here are also radically sharper than most of the rocks in the Sea to Sky, so be sure to bring your heavy sidewalls to prevent a tire slash.

Sprinkled throughout Rabbit Hole, you'll find several wooden drop options with both small and large-sized hits. These all flow fantastically well to wide landings and long runouts. The builders at Wonderland are all about their drop zones!

Indeed, if you carry on to the lower section of the Wonderland trail, you'll find even more drops to hit. These drop zones all feature progression options. On most of them, you'll find either 3 or 4 lines. You can stay on the ground and bypass all the drops if you'd like. But there's also the possibility to start on the smallest one and work your way up, gaining confidence as you go. These drops have been superbly built, with smooth transitions and long runouts. You couldn't find a better place to learn mountain bike drops! Finally, this short run wraps up with a quick blast down the last few berms of the signature flow trail—Mucho Oro. This superb flow might just tempt you to pedal back up for another lap!
