With brilliant riding and epic views, there's not much to dislike about this route! It passes through some of Kalamalka's best scenery and the riding is continually interesting without ever being too hard.

Description

The ride starts from the Kalamalka Provincial Park Cosen's Bay Parking Lot, which is itself a pretty scenic spot. Start out by riding the easy and undulating High Rim trail, which in turn then links into the smooth and straightforward switchbacks of Gingerly.

Once climbing again, follow Three Rings and then Pond Loop to reach Stone Free - the main ascent route for this loop. There are some tight turns on the ascent and some steeper sections too - only those with good skills and strong legs will avoid getting off a few times on the way up!

Before too long Stone Free deposits you on the High Rim Trail - the starting point for many Kalamalka trails, including Twister Sisters, which lies less than 100 metres south of the top of Stone Free.

The riding on the trail is sustained but there aren't any significant obstacles - just sustained interest. Your brakes take a hammering on this trail as there are few sections where you can just roll freely; you're always getting ready for the next challenge and so you can never really ease off. The riding is exceptional throughout and the views are incredible whenever the forest allows you to see them.

Once down, just above the Cosens Bay Road, rejoin Three Rings and then retrace your steps easily back to the parking lot.
