Description
Pull the skins & ski the steep north ridge down to the saddle. Caution as this slope is steep, good avi conditions are required.
From here, climb the west slopes of the south summit of Granite Knob. Once on the ridge, swing around south in a shallow valley (almost like a natural half-pipe) which leads to the entrance of the chute. Bring the camera as the views of the Kokanee Glacier are spectacular!
The roll into the chute is easy, but once onto the slope it is steep (40 degrees) & extremely avalanche prone! Ski the 500m chute to the creek below.
With skins on, climb to the ridge through thick brush which gives you access to Happy Valley. Descend into the valley then climb back up to Enterprise Ridge & back the way you came.
If there's still gas in the tank, it's easy to combine this with another run off of Tanal ridge - either the East side back into Happy Valley or the West side down to Tanal Lake.
10 km hut-to-hut, 900m elevation gain, approx 4-6 hrs.
