Maubisse Big Ridge Line Map

This is the big line in Maubessi, visible from all around. It's accessed by turning up towards the antennas from the high pass, then rounding the communications building at the top.

Description

Follow the gentle ridge and then follow the steep ridge for about a kilometre. The best grass for riding is close to the edge, but DO NOT TURN RIGHT! A fall off here is probably not survivable.

Then follow the traverse out to the main trail down the valley. The traverse can be a but difficult at times and is not entirely rideable. But once you hit the main trail, it's mostly fast flowing single track (apart from some steep switchbacks in the middle).

At the bottom, cross the river and head back to Maubessi. Can be a slog in the mud during wet season. Recommended in the dry season.

Difficulty

Extreme

Very steep, difficult, narrow singletrack with widely variable and unpredictable trail conditions. Unavoidable obstacles could be 15in/38cm tall or greater, and unavoidable obstacles with serious consequences are likely to be present. Obstacles could include big rocks, difficult root sections, drops, jumps, sharp switchbacks, and more. Ideal for expert-level riders.
