Cluses via the Breche
A long mild descent from La Mongie to Bareges. Great outing with the kids!

At the top of 4 Termes lift, look up to see the Breche, or hole in the rock wall, above you. Climb up and through the hole (If taking kids, you might want to put them on a rope and give them an ice tool for this part... makes it exciting!). On the other side, the short pitch down into the bowl is the steepest part of the entire ski (38-42 deg), but only about 20m long. It can always be side-slipped, booted down, or skied on rappel (especially for the kids). From there ski down rolling slopes to the Cabane d'Aygues Cluses, a great spot for lunch. Then mostly follow the creek down, and out to the Tournaboup parking lot. This route can get burnt out in the spring, and then it's a slog. Check it out on www.couloirquest.com.
