Vous pouvez accéder au couloir de deux manières différentes, par les crêtes ou depuis le bas : Depuis le bas du couloir prendre la noire d'Aulian et longer les barres sur le côté droit de la piste. Au pied du couloir, il est possible de monter en ski de rando pour ceux qui aiment les conversions mais c'est plus simple de monter droit à pied, ski sur le dos, crampons piolet si la neige est dure. Depuis les crêtes, rejoindre la crête depuis l'arrivée du téléski "pourtère" et longer la crête du Soum d'Eres Blanques jusqu'à l'entrée du couloir. Attention la crête est large mais exposée. L'entrée du couloir est reconnaissable avec un grand mur qui la domine rive gauche. Un relai de deux spits sur un rocher plat sur la droite permettent de faire un rappel, il peut être couvert de neige après de grosses conditions. Compter un bon 50 m pour rejoindre la partie skiable.

Profil et conditions :

Attention en chaussant, le départ est raide > 45°. La première partie du couloir n'est pas très large et assez raide ~ 45°. La deuxième partie, là où le couloir s'élargit est moins raide ~ 35/40°. Le couloir est skiable dès la première grosse chute de neige, mais attention, un petit ressaut au milieu du couloir peut être encore là en début de saison. Le couloir est exposé aux vents dominants de Nord-Ouest, on peut y trouver une belle plaque. La partie skiable n'est pas vraiment plus exposée que l'exposition relative à la pente, attention tout de même à la paroi rive gauche si vous démarrez au dessus du virage. Attention au sluff !

You can acces the KL couloir from two way, from the bottom or from the top : From the bottom you have to take the slope "noire d'Aulian", and traverse along the right side of the slope just under the big cliffs on your right. At the bottom of the couloir you can ascend the couloir with skins but you gonna do an infinity of kick turns, it's better to ascend it straight, skis on your backpack with an ice axe and crampons on foot in case of hard snow conditions. You can ascend as high as you want but in general the part after the turn skier's riht is too steep and icy. From the top, you have to take from the arrival of the "pourtere" ski lift the north east ridge line of the "Soum d'Eres Blanques" and join the top of the couloir. The ridge is quite large but a bit exposed take care to don't fall on the sides. The entrance of the couloir is easy to find, a big wall overhang it. There is a belay on the right side of the entrance under a sharp rock, it cans be covered of ice and snow after big wind conditions, take care preparing the rappel. There is at least 50 meters to link the skiable part.

Profile and conditions :

It needs to dig a step on the snow to put on the skis, the start of the descent is really steep > 45° . The first part of the couloir is quite large and 45° steep you need a good skills to ski it, the second part, where the couloir become larger, is 35-40° steep. You can ski it from the start of the season after the first big snow fall but take care at this period there is a little rock/ice over hang in the middle of the couloir to drop. Thanks of his perfect North orientation and his recess between the sides walls you can ski it with very good conditions late in the season. The couloir is exposed to the prevailing North West wind and present wind slabs. The couloir is not really exposed but if you fall starting over the turn you can hit the left side wall. Take care of the sluff !
